Author Pre-Interview: My name's TaNisha, and I am an aspiring author. I'm so glad you're here.
So, I get asked a lot about when I started writing. Well, it all goes back to when I was a kid. My mom was always the one with my head in a book, but I often found myself wishing the stories I read were more realistic and relatable to my own life. It was a little frustrating, to be honest. But then I figured it out: I didn't have to just read stories—I could write my own. Writing became my escape, my happy place where I could create entire worlds and characters that felt real to me. I guess as I got older, I figured out that stories are more than just an escape. They’re what connect us. They can make you feel things and see the world in a different way. That’s really why I write now: to share a piece of myself with you and hopefully make you feel something, too. I love writing all kinds of stories, from ones that are really personal to others that have a little bit of magic in them.

Author Interview:
What inspires you most to write?
Well, it all goes back to when I was a kid. My mom was always the one with my head in a book, but I often found myself wishing the stories I read were more realistic and relatable to my own life. It was a little frustrating, to be honest. But then I figured it out: I didn’t have to just read stories—I could write my own. What is your favorite genre?
Fiction, I love the imagination and creativity you could add and feel.
Who is one author you admire if any and why?
F. Scott Fitzgerald, the way he uses he’s words in his novels reminded me of what my teachers use to say about my writing how detailed it was you could see and meet the characters and see the scene like you were there to whiteness.
How do you overcome blank writing spells?
Honestly I listen to “The Great Gatsby” and that most of the time gives me a creative push.
5. What legal publishing advice can you give?
I am a self published as of right now, but I say do it! If you feel you may need a team get a team but if you feel you may listen to, to many options then do it on your own. Because publishing companies are good only if you know the terms and conditions for sure.
6. How many books have you written, are any a bestseller yet?
I have one main book on Wattpad, everything else has been short stories on my website or essays from journalism school.
No bestsellers just yet but they are coming. I have won a plethora of awards for my writings. My story on Wattpad is Ranked #2 in Teen books.
7. If you had the opportunity to rewrite one movie script which would it be, why?
I love drama so I would love to rewrite the movie Obsessed with Beyoncé, why because I don’t think they really allowed us to know the characters and the real plot twist it was just action and obsession but it was more deeper than that.
8. What are some difficulties you've experienced in your writing career; how do you handle book critiques/criticism?
Early in my career it was more difficult to get people interested in your genre of writing rather than the criticism. I am open to criticism it makes you better.
9. What are your best experiences in your writing career?
My best experience in writing was when I was featured in the newspaper for one of my award winning stories. I was only in fifth grade, that’s where it all began.
10. Do you prefer to write in silence and or have some sort sound in the background?
I have two different moods, when I am first starting a story or a draft I prefer silence to allow the creative to flow without distractions. Then if I am certain of the characters, setting, authors purpose and etc I then turn on soft instrumentals, but once I am in the zone Nicki Minaj is on full blast.

11. What are some encouraging words you'd give to another author/writer?
Keep writing not because you want a bestseller but because you have something to say that could save a whole generation.
12. How did you decide the pricing of your material; how did you go about promotion/advertising and distribution of your work?
I researched some other writers with the same book length and thought into the characters and the visual of the book and that creates the value. Promoting wise I started a Instagram page for my writings, which you meet the characters like they’re your new friends.
13. Why should anyone read your book?
I think if you are a young woman going through life, childhood trauma, self esteem, self acceptance this is for you. I struggled to find my true passion and calling and just by reading my own book, I am like wow this is who am I called to be. My words aren’t just for good entertainment but to motivate someone to uplift a broken spirit, that is why any woman should read my book.
14. Did you have a book coach?
No
15. What was your favorite subject in school?
English, can you tell.
Are you self-published or have an established publishing contract elsewhere?
I am a self published author
