Author/Writer Interview:
1. What inspires you most to write?
As a child, I was often told by teachers and later by professors that I had the ability to write because of my vivid ideas. That encouragement stayed with me. Writing gives me a way to take the thoughts, lessons, and experiences in my mind and turn them into something someone else can connect with.
2. What is your favorite genre?
My favorite genres are romance and fiction. I enjoy stories that deal with relationships, emotions, personal growth, and real-life situations people can see themselves in.
3. Who is one author you admire, if any, and why?
One author I admire is Richard Wright, especially because of Black Boy. I did not always enjoy reading, but that was the first book I could truly identify with. It pulled me into the story and helped me understand how powerful writing can be when the reader feels seen.
4. How do you overcome blank writing spells?
For me, blank writing spells are not usually the issue. My challenge is organizing all the ideas that come to me. I usually start by writing everything down, even if it is not perfect at first. Once I get the ideas out, the structure starts to come together.
5. What legal publishing advice can you give?
My advice is to do your research. When I started, I knew very little about publishing, so Google and research became two of my best tools. I learned the importance of understanding your rights, reading the publishing terms, protecting your work, and knowing what you are agreeing to before you move forward.
6. How many books have you written? Are any a bestseller yet?
This is my first published book. It is not a bestseller yet, but I am looking forward to the possibility of it becoming one.
7. If you had the opportunity to rewrite one movie script, which would it be and why?
I would probably rewrite Hitch. I love romance, and that movie helped inspire me to write about relationships and the idea of a modern "love doctor." I enjoy the movie, especially the poetic quotes and relationship lessons, but I would make it more urban, more realistic, and more connected to everyday relationship experiences.
8. What are some difficulties you have experienced in your writing career? How do you handle book critiques or criticism?
Since this is my first book, I have not experienced much criticism yet. However, I welcome feedback because every mistake can become an opportunity to improve. I believe criticism can help a writer grow if they are willing to listen, learn, and keep moving forward.
9. What are your best experiences in your writing career?
The best experience has been the entire journey. I have been surprised by the fact that I wrote a book, encouraged by people enjoying my content, and humbled by seeing my name published on Amazon. At this point, the whole experience still feels surreal.
10. Do you prefer to write in silence or have sound in the background?
I usually need some type of noise in the background, whether it is a movie, music, or people talking. For some reason, noise helps me focus. It feels like it pushes my brain to work harder and stay engaged with the writing.
11. What are some encouraging words you would give to another author or writer?
Do not be afraid. Just start writing. It is okay if it is not great at first. It is okay if it is not perfect. It is even okay if it does not sell right away. What matters is that it came from you and that you had the courage to create it.
12. How did you decide the pricing of your material? How did you go about promotion, advertising, and distribution of your work?
This has been a learning journey. Amazon publishing tools helped me understand pricing, distribution, and how to position the book. Promotion is where my IT background has been especially helpful. Earning my IT degree gave me the skills to build my own coaching website, create content for social media, set up my Google Business Profile, analyze what is working, and keep improving my marketing plan. I also built a marketing agent bot that helps me promote my website, my book on Amazon, and my IT work. Instead of waiting for someone else to do it for me, I have been using my own technical skills to build the platform, study the results, and grow the business step by step.
13. Why should anyone read your book?
People should read my book because it is not only about relationships; it also contains life lessons that can be applied to many situations. The chapters show how relationship growth starts with the mind, emotional awareness, communication, respect, and continued personal discipline.
Growth in the Mindset explains that every reaction has a root and helps readers look at the beliefs and emotional habits that shape how they show up in relationships.
When I Shut Down explains that shutting down is often self-protection, not simply distance. It helps readers understand how to communicate through that response and rebuild emotional safety.
Respect Feels Like Safety focuses on respect as the emotional foundation of trust. When respect is present, connection feels safe. When it is missing, the relationship becomes unstable.
Communication Is Maintenance teaches that communication should not only happen during conflict. Healthy communication is daily maintenance that keeps a relationship connected and steady.
Training Never Stops explains that strong relationships require consistent emotional discipline. This chapter captures the heart of becoming a trained partner: someone who shows up with steadiness, clarity, and intention.
14. Did you have a book coach?
Not a coach in the traditional sense. Life has been my coach. I believe we are the sum of our experiences, and I tried to transform my lessons into a book that could help someone else learn and grow.
15. What was your favorite subject in school?
English was my favorite subject. It gave me the freedom to create, express myself, and speak through writing when I felt like no one else was listening.
16. Are you self-published or do you have an established publishing contract elsewhere?
I am self-published.
