Author/Writer Interview:
1.What inspires you most to write?
Growing up, I kept a diary. My late husband found it one day and read through it. He was intrigued and incredibly supportive—he told me it should be published because it could inspire other women. His belief in my voice continues to inspire me.
2. What is your favorite genre?
I love reading fantasy and science fiction.
3. Who is one author you admire if any and why?
I admired Louis L’Amour growing up. His western novels gave me an escape from a traumatic life, and his characters’ strength resonated deeply with me.
4. How do you overcome blank writing spells?
I take a break and do something I love—listening to music or spending time with friends. A change of scenery helps me reset and return to my writing refreshed.
5. What legal publishing advice can you give?
Always do your research and know exactly what you want from a publisher. Understand your rights, your responsibilities, and what you are signing.
6. How many books have you written, are any a bestseller yet?
I have written one book so far. My biography, Unveiling Shackles, has won three different book awards.
7. If you had the opportunity to rewrite one movie script which would it be, why?
I believe in love and consider myself a romantic at heart, but I think movies often overemphasize the idea that everyone finds their perfect love. That is not always reality, and I would love to see a script that reflects a more honest, nuanced portrayal.
8. What are some difficulties you've experienced in your writing career; how do you handle book critiques/criticism?
Writing about trauma can be emotionally challenging, especially when old wounds reopen. As for critiques, I take them as opportunities for growth. I was actually my own biggest critic after completing my book.
9. What are your best experiences in your writing career?
Being accepted and acknowledged by other authors has been meaningful. Winning three book awards has also given me a strong sense of accomplishment.
10. Do you prefer to write in silence and or have some sort sound in the background?
It depends on my mood but I did most of my writing at night when my husband was asleep, so it was usually quiet.
11. What are some encouraging words you'd give to another author/writer?
Don’t give up. It’s a tough journey, but the hard work is absolutely worth it.
12. How did you decide the pricing of your material; how did you go about promotion/advertising and distribution of your work?
I based my pricing on comparable books within my genre.
13. Why should anyone read your book?
My story is filled with ups and downs, but its message is clear: you can overcome your demons and succeed. Trusting and believing in yourself is essential, and my journey reflects that truth.

14. Did you have a book coach?
No, I did everything myself except the publishing process.
15. What was your favorite subject in school?
I didn’t enjoy school, especially English—I always received a C. Who would have believed I would become a published award winning author one day?
16. Are you self-published or have an established publishing contract elsewhere?
I am traditionally published with Hemmingway Publisher.
