Shawnon is an author, poet, and book editor residing in Virginia. She released her first solo poetry book, Where the Color Purple Grows: Collection I, in 2018. Inspired by Alice Walker's phenomenal book and movie, Shawnon portrays her journey of love and healing as a queer black woman. A year later, she started her editing business, Healing Prose. Her favorite genre to edit is children's books, and some of the books she's edited have become Amazon bestsellers.
