Rebecca Flynn

Author Bio: I’m a mom of 5, a special education teacher, and a wife. I love horses and squirrels. I live on my little piece of land in the mountains of Tennessee.

Author/Writer Interview:

1.What inspires you most to write?

Music inspires me. Sometimes I hear a song and an idea just pops into my head.

2. What is your favorite genre?

Fantasy.

3. Who is one author you admire if any and why?

I don’t really have one that I admire. I enjoy reading a lot, so I jump around to a lot of different authors.

4. How do you overcome blank writing spells?

I role play. When I can’t write, or I’m stuck, I create a role playing game using the scenario that I’m working on and then act it out to see where it takes me.

5. What legal publishing advice can you give?

Always read the contract.

6. How many books have you written, are any a bestseller yet?

I’ve written 4, published 3. None have made it to the bestseller list yet.

7. If you had the opportunity to rewrite one movie script which would it be, why?

There are so many bad movies out there. Why choose one? Just kidding.

8. What are some difficulties you've experienced in your writing career; how do you handle book critiques/criticism?

I try not to read reviews. I feel like I have to respond and justify myself. I also second guess what I wrote, and question everything that I thought was so great.

9. What are your best experiences in your writing career?

I had a woman come up to my table at a signing while I was talking to someone. She pointed at my book and yelled “I know that book! I have that book! You wrote it?”She asked if she could take a picture with me because she was so excited.

10. Do you prefer to write in silence and or have some sort sound in the background?

I write with music.

11. What are some encouraging words you'd give to another author/writer?

Write what you enjoy. Someone else out there will want to read it too.

12. How did you decide the pricing of your material; how did you go about promotion/advertising and distribution of your work?

My publisher does all that.

13. Why should anyone read your book?

I want people to want to read my books because they’re weird and fun, and they’re an escape from reality.

14. Did you have a book coach?

I’m not even sure what that is.

15. What was your favorite subject in school?

English and creative writing.

16. Are you self-published or have an established publishing contract elsewhere?

I have an established publisher. They’re awesome!
