Screenwriter Interview:

1. How did you discover your passion for screen writing?

Since I was a kid, I always wanted to do something in the entertainment industry. First, I wanted to sing, then dance. As I got older, I wanted to model. I did some promo modeling in my early twenties which led to doing background work in the movie "A Bitter Kiss" and "Saints and Sinners." Later, I started helping a friend with her short film and decided to enter film School because I wanted to know all the things about filming that we didn't know because I wanted it to be right. In film school we had to write a short film, which is where the idea for "#2 - It Will Never Be" was born. I wrote the short film in one day. Writing the film was so easy for me. I used to write poetry as well, so maybe that's why screen writing came so natural. I have always loved music, movies, TV shows etc. as a kid and even into adulthood. Those things are my peace.

2. Who has been your biggest influence in the movie industry?

I would say my biggest influence has been Tyler Perry, Issa Rae, and Ebony Elliott. Ebony Elliott is a newer filmmaker in West Palm Beach. She is actually where I got the idea from to do a red carpet premiere, although I added a little twist to my premiere, adding dinner and a live performance from the artist whose music is featured in the film.

3. Who are two actors you would like to work with, why?

Again, Tyler Perry. He started out on his own, writing plays and look where it has taken him. He's such a talented man that I feel like I could learn a lot from. I would love the opportunity to work with him in one way or another.

Next, I would definitely say Queen Latifah. She is another incredible talent that I feel I could learn a lot from. She has had such longevity in the industry and she just seems like she would be great to work with.

4. How many screenplays or scripts have written and or have produced? List titles please.

I've only written one so far, which is, "#2 - It Will Never Be." There is a part two in the making.

5. What are some pitfalls you've experienced in your career?

I would say that would be procrastination, not following through on the things that I know could have come to pass in a timely manner. It took me four years to finish film school and it shouldn't have. My film could have been out a lot sooner and we could have been premiering the second or third one by now, but I let too many things get in the way. Our first stop for the movie premiere was in my hometown in March of this year and it exceeded my expectations. So I know now, when you have your mind set to do something, do it, don't let anything stop you or even slow you down.

6. What are your best experiences in your career?

Being on set and getting that experience firsthand. Being able to meet and work with different actors, directors, and producers in the industry has been awesome. I'm grateful for that experience. I'm currently cast as an actor in an up and coming TV show and I have gained such respect for what all goes into filming. Then, going into filming my own movie, I took what I learned in film school and the onset experience and turned it into what I think is a great first film. And the cast worked so well together and were all so helpful on set.

7. Are you independent or do you have a contract with a movie producer?

I'm currently an independent film maker, but I'm definitely open to much more.

8. What is your all time favorite movie or movies? Why? Would you change anything about the story plot?

My all time favorite movie is "Love and Basketball." I love love stories, especially the ones where they end happily ever after. Although basketball was in the mix, it was still about love. Monica and Quincy had such great chemistry. You saw the highs and lows of both of the characters, but at the end of it all they knew the love they had for each other and that never faded.

The only thing I might would have changed would have been Quincy's parents divorcing. That really broke his spirit, lol and rocked his world, but it happens, right.
