Author Bio: David J. Story, author of The Omega book series, A Jack Davidson and Shay Lynn Adventure. “The Creation” is the first book in the series. I began writing soon after my late wife was struck down in the crosswalk in a Walmart parking lot while leaving the store on March 23rd, 2020. She remained in a coma until she succumbed to her injuries on July 17th, 2022. This was also during the COVID-19 outbreak. I started writing to occupy my mind and time while trying to cope and deal with her injuries and her later passing.
I've continued the series because I feel this is an important topic. There's not enough written or talked about this major worldwide epidemic of Human Trafficking.
This is happening worldwide. Here in the United States, both U.S. residents and foreign nationals are being bought and sold like modern-day slaves. Traffickers use violence, manipulation, or false promises of well-paying jobs and other ways to exploit victims. Victims are forced to work as prostitutes or to take jobs as migrant, domestic, restaurant, or factory workers with little or no pay. Human trafficking is a heinous crime that exploits the most vulnerable in society.
Although the Omega Book Series is a work of fiction, the characters are entirely fictional. However, some of the stories are based on actual occurrences.
I hope that by reading the Omega Book Series and following Jack and Shay as they fight sex traffickers around the world, it might inspire readers to become aware of the epidemic that is taking hold in this country and other countries around the world.

Author Interview:
1. What inspires you most to write?
The growing number of children and adults who go missing every day. Who are never to be seen again. They end up in sex trafficking, forced labor, or organ harvesting. This is nothing but modern-day slavery.
There’s not enough written about this hideous crime forced on the innocent.
I wanted to do my part and somehow bring from the darkness into the light the horrors of human trafficking.
2. What is your favorite genre?
Fiction Action/Thriller
3. Who is one author you admire if any and why?
Vince Flinn, I like his action and stories.
4. How do you overcome blank writing spells?
Sometimes I go back and listen to one of my previous Omega Book Series Audiobooks. This sometimes gives me ideas that need clarification or something I could use in my current book.
5. What legal publishing advice can you give?
Be careful if you’re looking into hiring someone to publish your book. There are many scammers out there who prey on new authors. Make sure you do your research before you take that step.
6. How many books have you written, are any a bestseller yet?
So far, I’ve completed three books. None of them are bestsellers yet, but two have won awards. I’m currently working on book four.
7. If you had the opportunity to rewrite one movie script which would it be, why?
That’s a hard question. There have been several books I’ve read/listened to that were very good. But when the movie comes out based on that book, it’s nowhere near as good as the book. Or maybe the movie leaves out key scenes from the book. I would rewrite those scripts to include that scene.
8. What are some difficulties you've experienced in your writing career; how do you handle book critiques/criticism?
Besides time, if I have an idea while I’m out at the store or driving, I want to include it in my book. And by the time I get home, I’ve forgotten what it was. I’ve now installed a voice recorder on my cellphone that records and produces a written transcript of my idea. I can also file it into different file folders.
As far as critiques and criticisms, I try to ignore them. Not everyone is going to like your work. If I’m able to, I’ll politely ask the person what they didn’t like and how they would suggest I do it differently.
9. What are your best experiences in your writing career?
I guess like most authors. It’s satisfying to get a good review and to know that your book has made an impact on someone.
10. Do you prefer to write in silence and or have some sort sound in the background?
I like to have the TV or music in the background. But if I get stuck, I’ll turn off everything so I can concentrate on my writing.
11. What are some encouraging words you'd give to another author/writer?
I have a saying taped on the coffee table in front of me. It says: Stop thinking about it and just do it. This has helped me out a lot.
Also, for many years, I had wanted to write a book, but I never got around to doing it. I kept putting it off for years. My advice would be to stop thinking about it and just do it.
12. How did you decide the pricing of your material; how did you go about promotion/advertising and distribution of your work?
I looked at other books of the same size and genre, and priced my books based on that.

13. Why should anyone read your book?
Hopefully, after reading, they’ll have a better understanding of what is going on around them. Providing them with an awareness of the dangers that may affect them or a loved one. And maybe it will inspire them to get involved in the fight to help stop Human Trafficking.
14. Did you have a book coach?
No, but I did have some friends that I would bounce ideas off of.
15. What was your favorite subject in school?
Guess my favorite subject would be science.
16. Are you self-published or have an established publishing contract elsewhere?
I’m self-published.
