Cap Nels'

Updated: Oct 17

My name Lamarr 'Cap Nels' Nelson. I was born in Harlem NY. I'm a father, husband and a creative spirit. I enjoy trying new things and chasing my goals. My camera is near and dear to my heart. It allows me to explore new ideas and share them with the world. I also make a living with my camera. I've built a successful photo and video company "Get Every Moment Video & Photography". I'm working to leave a legacy for the next generation.

RAW-U-TE MULTIMEDIA is my film company.

Screenwriter Interview:

1. How did you discover your passion for producing and film directing?

I discovered my passion for film out of necessity. When I first started filming, I realized that no one could tell the stories I wanted to bring to life quite the way I envisioned them. I actually started with music videos. But Zoo Boro began as an idea pitched by Myers Lansky. His viewpoints of the real stories, raw energy, and struggles of Bronx NY. Once I saw how words could become worlds on screen, I was hooked.

2. Who has been your biggest influence in the movie industry?

I’ve been influenced by directors who crossed the lines between music videos and cinema, like Hype Williams and Spike Lee. They each built their own lanes, expressing our life and culture in a way that spoke to me.

3. Who are two actors you would like to work with, and why?

I’d like to work with Curtis Jackson(50 Cents), his range and realness fit perfectly with the type of, character-driven stories I’m drawn to. The second would be Teyana Taylor. She brings something different to every role she takes, and I think I might be a little bias because we’re both from Harlem, NY.

4. How many screenplays or scripts have you written or produced? List titles please. So far, I’ve directed and produced several projects under the Zoo Boro umbrella, which started as a web series and evolved into a full-length movie. Titles include:

• Zoo Boro (Season 1) Journey Through the Zoo

• Zoo Boro (Season 2): Other Side of the Bronx

• Zoo Boro (Full-length Movie) Opposition Over the Bridge.

• Zoo Boro 4: Queen on the Board (Upcoming)

Each installment has grown in production value, storytelling depth, and audience reach.

5. What are some pitfalls you’ve experienced in your career?

Independent filmmaking comes with plenty of challenges but budget is number one, then unreliable cast members, and the constant need to juggle creative and personal responsibilities. Also underestimating the time and resources needed to bring a vision to life the right way.

6. What are your best experiences in your career?

The best experiences always come when I’m on set and everything clicks. The energy, the performances, the connection between cast and crew. Seeing Zoo Boro grow from an online series to a recognized indie film project has been incredible. But the most rewarding part is the feedback from viewers. That’s when I know the work is making an impact.

7. Are you independent or do you have a contract with a movie producer?

I’m fully independent right now. Independence gives me full creative control, which I value. I am open to partnerships and production deals.

8. What is your all-time favorite movie or movies? Why? Would you change anything about the story plot?

My all-time favorites include New Jack City and The Color Purple. Each one shaped my understanding of storytelling in a different way, emotion, structure, and storyline. I wouldn’t change a thing about either. The Color Purple, was the first movie that made me cry lol. I was amazed how a movie could affect me in that way. I wanted that power.
